Privacy Policy
OKWave Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “Company”) respects the privacy of people (hereinafter referred to as “User”) who use OKWave (hereinafter referred to as the “Service”) and manages the User’s personal information with the greatest care.

■Personal Information
Company shall define that personal information means information on a living individual (name, date of birth, age, gender, address, phone number and any other data to identify an individual), information used in association with any specified individual such as e-mail address, user ID and password, and any other attributed information about an individual such as hobby and family structure.

■Collection of Information
Company will obtain personal information by fair and lawful means and shall not obtain it by unjust means against the User’s will.

■The Intended Use of Personal Information
Company uses the personal information collected from User for the following purposes:
-to provide the Service;
-for Company or a third party which Company believes would be beneficial to User to promote or solicit sales, or to advertise by sending direct mail or e-mail;
-to respond to inquiries;
-to prevent any use that breaches the terms of the Service provided by Company;
-to offer prizes or campaigns, or to carry out questionnaire surveys;
-to examine, to compile statistics on, or to analyze marketing data;
-to generate the statistical data which are processed into non-personally identifiable information;
-to develop new services or functions;
-to handle any troubles or to maintain systems; and
-for other purposes set out for each service of Company.

■Contractor
Company may contract the processing of the entrusted personal information to a third party. In that event, Company will enter into a basic agreement covering the escrow of personal information with a third party, and will have appropriate and necessary measures to supervise such third party.

■Cookies and IP Address Information
Company does not regard cookies and IP addresses as personal information since they, by themselves, cannot be used to disclose the individual identity of any User. However, only in cases where they are used with personal data, they will be regarded as personal information.

In regard to cookie information, User may refuse to receive a cookie by changing the setting of a web browser. User is required to bear in mind, though, that if User deletes cookies, he or she may not be able to use some of the Service such as posting questions or answers on the login Q&A available for subscribers.

■ Correction of Personal Information
When User makes a request to correct or delete the content(s) regarding the inaccuracy in his or her personal information, Company will take proper action without delay within the scope necessary for the achievement of the purpose of use, except for cases in which special procedures are required by other provisions in the related law.

■ Disclosure of Personal Information
Company may disclose personal information in the following cases:
when Company is officially requested to disclose information by statute from court, police or any other public institutions with the equivalent authority;
when Company recognizes the urgent necessity because of imminent danger to human life, body, property, or other rights and benefits;
when Company recognizes it necessary to protect the right, property, or services of Company, User, and other third parties;
when Company recognizes it necessary to disclose or share information in order to provide the service the User requests; and
when information is required by a contractor within the necessary scope to attain the purpose of services.

■ Indemnity The Company applies appropriate measures for the protection of information transmitted to the site. However, User shall be responsible for the management of his or her user ID and password, and Company has no access to these. The Company shall not be liable for any damage which User may suffer as a result of any information loss, unauthorized access, misuse, or falsification caused by User’s own error and carelessness in the ID and password management. User is required to take notice that as well as User is responsible to use and manage them, User assumes to take his or her own precaution to protect against any incorrect or unauthorized use by any third party.

■ Privacy Policy Modifications Company may modify all or part of the Privacy Policy. In the event of significant changes to the Privacy Policy, it will be notified via this website.
